Yoga-Closed Mountain



Tips

-stand up tall with your shoulders relaxed

-let your arms relax at your sides or place your palms together at your heart

-slowly breath in and out

Yoga-Open Mountain

Tips
-stand up tall and slowly breath in and out
-place your feet shoulder width apart
-let your arms relax at your sides or place your palms together at your heart

Yoga-Boat


Tips
-keep your back straight and off of the ground, and keep your feet up in the air
-bending your knees makes this poses easier
-use your arms to help you balance
-move your arms back and forward, like rowing a boat

Yoga-Butterfly

Tips
-sit up tall with the bottoms of your feet touching each other
-wrap your fingers around your toes and pull your feet closer to your body as you sit up
-slowly and gently raise and lower your knees "flapping your butterfly wings"

Yoga-Reverse Triangle


Tips
-begin with your feet wide apart, pointing the toes on one foot to the side and keeping the other toes pointing forward
-stretch your arms out to your sides, palms open wide
-slowly lend back, leading with your hand and rest your palm on the back side of your knee
-look up at the other hand as it reaches towards the sky and bend your front knee
-breath and move slowly

Yoga-Dolphin


Tips
-this pose is similar to downward dog, except your entire forearm is on the ground
-keep your back and legs straight
-keep your feet close together
-your head should be in between your arms, but not touching the ground

Yoga-Eagle


Tips
-clasp your hands together in front of your body
-balancing on one leg, bend the other leg and cross it over the front of the balancing leg and hook your foot behind your calf (lower leg)
-keep your back straight, don't lean or hunch forward

Yoga-Plank


Tips
-begin lying on your stomach with your palms flat on the ground under your shoulders
-push your body up with your arms, extending your arms and making them straight
-keep your legs and back VERY straight

Yoga-Stick


Tips
-begin laying on your stomach with your palms flat on the ground under your shoulder
-push your body up with your arms, keeping your back and legs VERY straight
-slowly bend your elbows and lower your body so it hovers just above the ground
-Keep breathing!!!

Tips
-keep your front foot right in between your hands and your back leg straight
-keep your head up and back straight

Yoga-Seated Forward Bend

-sit up tall with your legs straight, toes pointed up, take a deep breath in
-exhale as your reach forward towards your toes
-keep your arms and legs straight

Tips
-begin by standing with your feet together, then inhale and reach your arms straight up above your head
-slowly bend forward as your exhale and reach towards your toes
-keep your arms and legs straight

Yoga-Child's pose


Tips
-relax as you sit in this pose, slowly breathing in and out
-stretch your arms out in front or rest them next to the body
-sit down in between your feet (point your toes together and spread your heels apart to create a "bowl" or space for you to sit down in)

Yoga-Dogward Dog pose


Tips
-begin on your hands and knees; then raise your hips up and straightening your legs as you look down at the ground
-keep your palms and heels on the ground
-keep your legs and arms straight

Yoga-Downward Dog with a Split


Tips
-get into the downward dog pose first
-make sure you are balanced, then raise one leg straight up
-try to keep heel of other foot on the ground, along with your palms
-keep your arms and legs straight

Yoga-Upward Dog pose

-look up towards the sky as you exhale
-keep legs straight and off the ground
-hold body up by hands and toes only, don't allow torso or legs to rest on the ground

-lay completely flat on your back
-keep your arms and legs straight and relaxed
-feel free to close your eyes and focus on your breathing
-try practicing breathing deep into the diaphragm
-listen to soft music quietly at the end of a yoga workout while lying in corpse pose

-begin by laying face down on your stomach, arms bent next to torso, palms flat on the ground
-exhale as you raise your head towards the sky
-keep palms flat on the ground
-make a "hissing" sound as your exhale, like a snake

-push your spine towards the sky as you tip your chin towards your chin
-slowly inhale as you do this pose

-push your stomach muscles towards the floor as you lift your hand and exhale
-make a "moo" sound as your exhale and do this pose

-begin by laying face down on your stomach
-bend your knees and reach back and grab the outside of your ankles
-exhale as you raise your head and lift your feet up with your hands

-keep front knee bent and right above the front foot
-keep back leg and both arms straight

-point front toe forward and back toe to the side

-begin by standing on one leg, clasping your hand around the ankle of the other while standing upright, raise your free hand into the air straight above your head
-slowly drop your free arm forward as your raise your other leg behind you, holding your leg at the ankle
-focus on something not moving

-first sit down with your knees bent and legs tucks undernearth you
-put your hands on your ankles, then lift your chest up as your head drops back
-remember to breath slowly and stay relaxed
